Waterfall down from the Mountains, and Prints for WonderCon

These are the paintings I printed for WonderCon all lined up. I didn't make prints of very many images and i didn't make too many of any of them.  I think I had an "in it for the experience" sort of mentality going in, but it was really fun! I'm pretty sure I'll be doing that again.

 

 

 

Wonder-con

I realize its usually before a con that people announce that they're going to have a table, but i suppose its better late than never.  I am in the middle of having a booth at wonder-con with Priscilla Wong. We're in artist alley for the rest of the day. This is my first time having a table at a convention of any kind and really my first time selling personal work.

(The Thing is one of my favorite horror movies. It's a truly terrifying concept and there is something amazing about the creative practical special effects shot intelligently. To me it might look more fake than CG but it feels more real.  I was thinking about that movie and I think that's what happened here)

but it has actually been great. People are really nice and I really enjoy chatting with everyone who comes up to the table  :D

     Ya gotta love Greek mythology. Its such a crazy soap opera.  I've been a fan at least since seeing Ray Harryhausen's work in Jason and the Argonauts, and Clash of the Titans on t.v. when I was little.  I thought it would be nice to have some Russian poster melodrama here. 

Ryu ki hyun (an amazing draftsman, all around coolguy, and one of the directors on Korra )  Drew a group caricature of the whole crew and we decided to all draw caricatures of him. This is mine. He is un-phased by his skillz.

    I've been working on a lot of dark paintings of cold places at work lately so i thought I'd finish this drawing I did a while ago in a manner that would bring some balance to my week.

Edit: I was too tired to finish last night.  A Christmas tree angel, a clothes pin, and some particularly brave thumbtacks confront their friends captor.

Work Work

The first book of The Legend Legend of Korra has been out for a while so I think I should post a background key or two. Most of these are from a year or so ago. I definitely learned a lot working on the show and am still learning.  These aren't necessarily the epic locations but maybe some more interesting moody ones.

   I did the color on these. the layouts are done by others. also © 2011 Nickelodeon. All rights reserved. ect. ect.

After getting some crits from some cool folks i did some revising.  I think the depth is a great deal clearer and it reads better over all.
